Gender: Female
Age: 14
City: Corus
Status: Lady-in-waiting
Personality
Akira is the picture of how a noble lady is suppose to behave. She is poliet and charming. She is also very intelligent. She loves to learn new stuff and is always finding new stuff to learn every singal day. Akira is very friendly and will talk to almost anyone who shows her some kindness. That is her rule: if a person shows respect and kindness to her, she will return the favor and be an angel to them. But if someone is being mean and downright cruel, then Akira will be twice as cruel. And she had proved it before. Other than that Akira is a very sweet young girl.
Akira will sometimes wander off into the Yamani forest. She sometimes refers to herself as the ever changing nature. She can be violent and full of rage like a full-blown out thunderstorm or she can be calm as a light breeze. Her mood sometimes shifts rapidly so you will never know what kind of mood she will be in. Akira will be happy and out-going one minute and either sad or angry the next.
-Personality Flaw:
Akira hides her feelings more often than usual. She does not let out her feelings. Being from the Yamani Islands might have something to do with this. She also tends to trust people without giving them a second thought. The action results in having beeing betrayed by someone she hardly knows.
Appearance
Akira appears as an elegant young woman. Her eyes are a clear crystal blue. Her light golden blonde hair-when it is not in a bun-falls past her waist. When in a bun it is usually in a very tight bun, although sometimes it is in a messy bun. She wears the traditional clothes of the Yamani-two floor length kimonos. A gold locket is seen around her neck, but she hides it under the collar.
Akira prefers bright colors on her kimono. Her favorite kimono to wear is dark sapphire with silver flowers that went around the kimono. That was made expecially for her by her maid. She wears earrings all the time. She is somewhat unhappy with her hair color-that being the result of dying her hair color so many times before she turned fifteen.
-Appearance Flaw:
Akira's light blonde hair makes her less of a Yamani and she hates it. She somtimes has to use dark hair dye to make it the usuall dark hair that of a Yamani.
History
Akira Mitsune was born to Lord Akio and Lady Keiko in the Yamani Island. The family lived in the palace. They were in great favor of the emperor. Lord Akio and Lady Keiko had defended the castle when it was raided by none other than pirates. The pirates had wanted to take the emperor's wife and also a few other choosen ladies-Akira being one of them. With their help the guards were able to hold the pirates back until the time came to round them up. Because her parents had choosen to help, the emperor had granted them more power in the Yamani court. Next to the emperor, the family had even more power because of the attack. A few months after that her oldest and only brother, Saki, had underwent training and within two years he was made a guard. Her parents were happy and glad. But little Akira was sadden. Her and Saki were very close and did almost anything together. She looked up to him as something of a role-model.
Akira would play with the other noble children(which she always did). Her first six years were spent quietly and uneventful. Akira would always wander in the forest and simply walk around. Or she would just sit by the lake and think. Akira would be seen following her cousin Lady Aiyana around. That is until she was disowned from the family. One summer morning in June, a group of Tortallan guards had came to tell the emperor about business reguarding the Tortallans. Of course Akira was not told the real reason why. A few years back Aiyanna had went to Tortall to see what life was like in the Tortallan court. Once there she had met Nathan, a Tortallan guard. The pair soon fell in love despite the nationalitly between them.
Nathan had saved up enough money to travel to the Yamani Islands with Aiyanna. It was springtime and Akira could still remember the event clearly in her mind. She could also see the look on her father's face when he was told that Nathan was a Tortallan, and a guard in the Tortallan palace to boot. He would not accept the marriage and Aiyanna was disowned.
Akira was devestated by the event. She liked her cousin. The pair was closer. She even liked Nathan and he was kind to her.
A few months after that event, another event had befallen the family. A knife used by the emperor's would-be-assassin was found on her father's bedside table. Lord Akio was accused of trying to kill the emperor. The royal guards was planning to raid the house and take in all the family, including little Akira(who was ten at the time). Luckly the lord had a few hidden spies in the castle and had known of the plan a few days in advance. He had sent Akira to one of her aunt's houses. Akio had killed Keiko and then himself. One of the family's servants had found Akira and had given her the letter he had written a few hours before his death. He did it, he had explained, so he would not see his family suffer.
He had left the aunt instructions. When Akira turned fourteen, he wrote, she would be sent to Tortall to live with her cousin Aiyana. A few days after her 14th birthday the aunt had carried out the order. Now Akira lives with Aiyana and her husband Nathan in the royal palace.
