Sailors, Pirates, Etc.Okay, I had a system set up for sailors and pirates before... but it wasn't so appealing. I again want to get these types of characters incorporated into the game and I'm open to suggestions as to how to make it work. Stock Characters Right now I have a silly little audition system set up. I've been tossing around the idea of creating more 'stock characters' that people may apply/audition to play. Would you be interested in seeing some of these? If you were a new person considering joining, would you like the option of being able to play one of these 'premade' characters? New ForumsWould you guys like to have forums in the Western Reaches? Other places? If so, please suggest some. If you have any other ideas, speak up!

Sailors, Pirates, Etc- I think the biggest problem with these type sailors (for me) is that I don't really know anything about boats... er ships.. I would be lost with the type of jobs and things that sailors have. Even with a really detailed guide I think I would be making a lot of stuff up, but having a really detailed guide might help?
Stock characters- Personally, my favorite part is writing character bios, but I don't think that everyone feels that way. Maybe the character bios will encourage more people to join though so maybe it's a good idea just to get people started.
New Forums- I like the idea of having the Western Reaches, but having too many forums seems to spread out characters too much so there isn't very much interaction. Maybe when there are more characters it will be a better idea..
That was mildly unhelpful, but meh I tried ha ha

lol, yes, you tried! And I agree with all the points you made here. Did you happen to look into the guide Ruth and I put together in the Reference Section? And not that we would expect sailing life to be detailed and perfect... heck, I myself don't know heads or tails about sailing aside from what I've read and seen in film.

Ha ha I actually did see it when I first joined, then I forgot about it, and I just saw it again. Whoops. Yeah it looks pretty extensive, I don't know, for some reason a sailor just seems really daunting... How much rped sailing would a sailor have to do and how much rping would just be on the mainland?

Yeah, and that's the frustrating thing about incorporating those types of characters. We had a battle at sea going and it was very hard for the players to keep it going without a whole lot to work off of/other people to work with I think. Laura would probably have some input on that, since her character Aislinn was involved.
When I removed those types of boards from the site, the reason I gave Shell was that if somebody wanted to post at sea, they could make a Log/Journal or Monologue post. Because really, most people just want to play their pirate characters getting drunk in a pub or looking for treasure on an island... lol.

I contemplated making a sailor for a while, but was rather put off by the fact that I didn't really know what they would do. I guess when they're in port they have fun and take care of any landside business, but it just seemed that it would get rather old after a while, because right now there's only one port. It also wasn't really plausible that the character would have come to Port Caynn all that often, because it took loads of time to get from one place to another, and they wouldn't be constantly going back to Port Caynn. Maybe if there was a port in the Western Reaches? Then sailor characters could go back and forth between Port Caynn and the port in the Western Reaches. That would interesting, I think.
Blah...sorry if that was confusing.
