Okay, so far this site is not really Gift-y. That's fine. And not that the Gift is bad.
I know it's not Halloween and that this site is totally not HP whatsoever, but does anybody else think we should have witches running around? Like... what if something were to have happened in the scheme of Tortall universe history where all of the sudden the Gift was not so common anymore? Afterall, I already dissolved the majority of the Immortals from Eastern history.
I also figured the Dominion Jewel will have moved on by now. The Uuoads aren't a very Gifted race to begin with, but Easterners... what if the Gift became a rarity?
Or something of the like. I don't know, I'm just for some reason dwelling on different Gift concepts. Having the Gift is clearly not a focus of this site, even while it was commonplace in TP canon. For me magic being mysterious and uncommon gives it a better quality and more potential; should we rarify the Gift then?
Not that... there would be witch hunts, considering the queen herself has a Gift, but I can see Gifted people as being eccentric, prejudiced against/feared. Blah, not really sure where I'm going. It's late and my mind is skipping off on all sorts of tangents on me. xD
Maybe like PotC. It's there, it's neat and freaky and supernatural, people fear it yet it exists... people don't believe it exists... maybe Easterners have forgotten what it's like now that it's fading out and are beginning to think of it as equally fictional as the Immortals that aren't even around anymore... not that PotC is a real good example. Well, kinda. I just can't think of another example at this time.
